Family Self Sufficiency Program (FSS)

• The FSS Program is a five-year program designed for participants of the Home Choice Voucher Program to improve their standard of living through higher-salaried employment, training, asset building and/or education. Michigan State Housing Development Authority, (MSHDA) will establish a savings account. As the household's earned income increases a portion is matched by MSHDA and placed in a special escrow account in the participants' name. This money, including interest earned, will be given to the client upon successful completion of the program. The goal is to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
